After taken delivery of its second aircraft to service the Accra-Tamale-Accra routes, Passion Air has, from October 2, 2018, begun operations from Accra to Tamale, still maintaining the lowest airfares.

The aircraft; Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, a 78-seater capacity, brings the number to two aircraft being operated by Passion.  The other had begun operations about a month ago on the Kumasi route.

A return ticket from Accra to Tamale costs GHS577, the lowest in the domestic air travel market compare to what others charge.

Passion will offer twice a day frequency from Monday to Saturday, and thrice on Sunday with a total expected schedule of 30 weekly flights. An expected high demand will increase the frequency to a total of 42 weekly flights.

At an inaugural ceremony in Tamale on October 1, 2018, MD of the Ghana Airport Company Limited, Mr John Attafuah said, “the entry of Passion Air has led to a significant drop in airfares resulting in an increase in traffic from 400 to about 700 passengers, on the Accra Kumasi route.”

He added, “I am aware that Passion Air has increased its frequencies on the Kumasi-Accra-Kumasi routes from 6 to 10 flights a day and this is very commendable. I hope a similar move will be extended to the Tamale route.”

Ticketing and Distribution Manager at Passion Air, Ridwan Adamou, disclosed, “Our third commercial aircraft will be here in Accra and will operate the Accra-Takoradi routes by the end of October.”

Aviation Minister, Joseph Kofi Adda, at the ceremony at Tamale, commended Passion Air for their intervention in the pricing methods of the domestic air travel market.

“Customers now have choices to consider. I urge Passion Air not to relent in its quest to offer the best available services that will appeal to customers,” he advised.
