Free Baggage Allowance
Passengers are allowed free checked baggage allowance according to the fare bundle bought:

Any baggage that exceeds the free baggage allowance will attract excess fees as listed further below.

 

 

Infants (Under 2 years)
Infants that do not occupy a seat are not allowed checked baggage but are allowed one (1) piece of hand luggage not exceeding 5kg on board.

 

Excess Baggage
Excess baggage fees apply to any baggage weighing more than the specified free baggage allowance depending on the booking class purchase. Excess baggage fees are charged on a per kilo basis.

Overweight and Oversized Bags
PassionAir SHALL NOT accept for transport any single bag exceeding 32kg. Passengers MUST either reduce the weight of the bag or break it into smaller pieces.

Individual passengers’ total number of checked bags cannot exceed five (5) bags.
Each bag must not exceed 250x79x112cm (LxHxW) with a maximum circumference of 300cm.
PassionAir reserves the right to refuse or delay the carriage of bags due to operational restrictions.

 

Cabin Luggage

All passengers can carry one (1) piece of hand luggage and one small personal item onboard, such as a handbag or a laptop case, that can fit comfortably under the seat in front of you. Your ticket type determines the weight of your hand luggage.

Any piece of baggage exceeding these dimensions (oversized bag) but within the allowed weight shall be accepted as hold (check in) luggage at a charge.

 

Condition of check in bags

PassionAir shall not accept for transport check-in bags with the following characteristics:

• Backpacks with loose straps;
• Travel bags with hanging items such as straps; or
• Damaged bags: torn bags, broken zips, cracked hard case bags, etc.

PassionAir reserves the right to reject any bag that presents these characteristics or is in a condition that is unsuitable for transport.
PassionAir reserves the right to demand that bags be film wrapped before being accepted for transport.
PassionAir shall not be responsible for any damage to bags resulting from improperly packaged and secured bags.

 

Travelling with pets

PassionAir offers a special service for carrying pets on its flights.
The carriage of pets is guided by the terms and conditions available here.

 

Restricted items

Passengers are not allowed to carry the following items in their hand/carry-on baggage for passengers’ safety and security reasons. Please contact PassionAir for conditions of carriage of restricted items. Restricted items include but are not limited to:

1. Guns, Firearms and Other Devices That Discharge Projectiles
Firearms of all types, such as pistols, revolvers, rifles, and shotguns. Toy guns, replicas and imitation firearms are capable of being mistaken for real weapons. Component parts of firearms, excluding telescopic sights.Compressed air and CO2 guns, such as pistols, pellet guns, rifles and ball bearing guns. Signal flare pistols and starter pistols. Bow, crossbows, arrows, harpoon guns, spear guns, slingshots and catapults.

2. Stun devices
Devices for shocking, such as stun guns, tasers and stun batons, animal stunners and animal killers. Disabling and incapacitating chemicals, gases and sprays such as mace, pepper spray, capsicum, tear gas, acid sprays and animal repellent sprays.

3. Objects With A Sharp Point Or Sharp Edge
Items designed for chopping such as axes, hatchets and cleavers. Ice axes and ice picks, razor blades, box cutters, knives (including hunting knives, swords, and pocket knives). Scissors and any other sharp/bladed objects (e.g. ice-pick, nail clippers). Martial arts equipment with a sharp point or sharp edge, swords and sabres.

4. Workmen Tools
Tools that can cause serious injury or threaten the safety of the aircraft include crowbars; drills and drill bits, including cordless portable power drills. Tools with a blade capable of use as a weapon, such as screwdrivers and chisels. Saws, including cordless portable power saws, blowtorches, bolt guns and nail guns.

5. Blunt Instruments
Objects that can cause serious injury when used to hit, including but not limited to baseball and softball bats, clubs, batons and martial arts equipment. Please note that if you fail to declare these items, they shall be retrieved during screening by the local authorities and the items may not be returned to you.

6. Personal Items
Personal items permitted in carry-on luggage include:

• electronic equipment such as cell phones, portable music players, laptops
• non-metallic nail files
• syringes or needles for personal medical use with a needle guard in place. These have to be accompanied by the medication in its original labelled container.

Dangerous goods and prohibited items

Certain items shall not be accepted as checked or carry-on baggage under any circumstances. PassionAir does not accept any items that are considered by us to be unsuitable for carriage because they are dangerous or unsafe. You must not include any items in your baggage that are likely to endanger the aircraft or persons or property on board the aircraft, as well as items that are prohibited by applicable laws or regulations. You will be responsible for disposing of such items and PassionAir may not keep or store such items under any circumstances.

Please ask us if you are unsure of what items are regarded as dangerous. It is considered a criminal offence to make jokes or inappropriate comments regarding the carriage of such articles. Certain articles are only permitted as carry-on baggage and may not be included in your checked baggage. Please contact us for more information before your trip. Below is a list of some of the most common prohibited items. These items may not be accepted as checked baggage, carry-on baggage or on your person under any circumstances. Such items include but are not limited to:

• Explosives, munitions, fireworks, and flares;
• Security-type cases/boxes incorporating goods such as lithium batteries or pyrotechnics;
• Compressed gases (flammable, non-flammable, or poisonous) such as butane, propane, aqualung cylinders, lighter fuels, or refills;
• Oxidising substances such as bleaching powder and peroxides;
• Flammable liquids such as paints and adhesives;
• Flammable solids such as safety matches and articles which are easily ignited;
• Disabling devices such as mace or pepper sprays, with irritant properties;
• Poisons such as arsenic, cyanides, or insecticides;
• Radioactive materials;
• Corrosive materials such as mercury (which may be contained in thermometers or blood pressure gauges,) acids, alkalis, and wet cell batteries;
• Any other substances which, during a flight, present a danger not covered above, such as magnetized, offensive, or irritating materials;Lighters (butane, absorbed fuel, electric, battery-powered, and novelty lighters) are not to be carried on the person, or in the carry-on and checked baggage.
•  Any small vehicles powered by lithium batteries, such as air wheels, solo wheels, balance wheels, hoverboards or mini Segways.

Perishables, fragile and precious items

It is not recommended to check in fragile, valuable or perishable articles due to the nature of baggage handling. PassionAir shall not be responsible for items of high value that are checked in, such items to be carried onboard.

If for any reason it is declared and accepted for carriage as check-in baggage, the passenger will sign a limited liability form. Any fragile, valuable or perishable articles are accepted under limited liability.

These include but are not limited to perfume, paintings/art, musical instruments, wine or alcohol, fresh produce, food, or flowers, electronic devices, important documents (e.g. title deeds, negotiable papers, money), precious metals/minerals, collectables, rare items and historical artefact, etc. PassionAir accepts no liability for loss or damages of any kind to fragile, valuable or perishable articles.

 

Right of refusal of carriage

1. PassionAir shall refuse carriage of baggage containing such prohibited items described above and shall refuse further carriage of any such items on discovery thereof.
2. PassionAir may refuse to carry as baggage any item because of its size, shape, weight or character.
3. PassionAir may refuse to accept baggage as checked baggage unless it is properly packed in suitcases or other similar containers to ensure safe carriage with ordinary care in handling.
4. PassionAir shall not accept for transport check-in bags with the following characteristics:

• Backpacks and travel bags with loose straps
• Damaged bags: torn bags, broken zips, cracked hard cases, etc.

PassionAir reserves the right to reject any bag that presents these characteristics or is in a condition that is unsuitable for transport.
PassionAir reserves the right to demand that bags be film wrapped before being accepted for transport.

Right of inspection

For reasons of safety and security, PassionAir may request the passenger to permit a search to be made of his person and his baggage and may search or have searched the passenger’s baggage in his absence if the passenger is not available.

For the purpose of determining whether he is in possession of or whether his baggage contains any item described Paragraph 5.0 and 6.0 above or any arms or ammunitions which have not been presented to PassionAir in accordance with Paragraph 7.0 above. If the passenger is unwilling to comply with such request, PassionAir may refuse to carry the passenger or baggage.

 

Baggage irregularities

All claims are treated strictly in accordance with PassionAir’s Terms and Conditions of Carriage as set out on the PassionAir website and which all passengers agree to at the time of making their booking.  There shall be no deviations from these terms and conditions.

Items accepted under “limited liability” are handled at the sole risk of the passenger. The act of handing over such duly identified items of baggage to PassionAir or its agents thereby indemnifies the carrier against any subsequent claim for alleged damage to and/or pilferage from such item or its content.

All baggage irregularities must be reported to a PassionAir agent or representative immediately upon arrival.

Delayed Baggage

We will do our best to carry luggage on the same aircraft as its owner. However, for operational, security and/or safety reasons PassionAir does not guarantee that your luggage will be carried on the same flight. In these cases, PassionAir cannot be liable for the delay of the baggage. Once the bag arrives at its destination, PassionAir shall inform the passenger to pick up the luggage from its airport office. Passengers must present a valid ID and the original baggage tags to pick up the bag(s).

No compensation will be paid for delayed baggage, including any consequential or indirect losses resulting thereof.

Damaged Luggage/Items

PassionAir shall not accept responsibility for damage sustained due to:

• Any protruding items, handles, retractable handles, wheels, zips and locks;
• General wear and tear – normal transport conditions that may result in scratches, marks and dents and other minor damage;
• Improperly or unsuitably packed a bag;
• Loss of external locks pull straps, security straps or zipper tabs;
• Damage to wheels, feet and extending handles;
• Fragile and perishable items;
• Damage due to undeclared substances in your bag;
• Oversize bags;
• Adverse weather conditions;
• Bags accepted under limited liability release; and
• Damage that is not reported immediately upon arrival.

Replacement/Repair for Damaged Bags

Damaged bags will be repaired wherever possible. Should the damage to your bag prove to be to such an extent that it is obvious that the bag cannot be repaired, PassionAir will replace the bag with a similar bag. Please note that the replacement bag may well differ as far as brand name, exact appearance and price is concerned. PassionAir offer or repair or replacement shall be final.

Lost Luggage/Items

We take utmost care of your bag and its contents. Unfortunately, as operators, we do not control the security in the various airports that we fly to.

As per the “Terms and Conditions of Carriage“, PassionAir will not pay claims for any loss or damages to valuable or fragile articles.

When you notice any pilfering of your luggage:

• Immediately report to our airport representatives along with bag tags and travel documents.
• We shall not accept liability for pilfering that is not reported immediately upon arrival.
• Baggage shall be declared lost only if it cannot be delivered twenty-one (21) days after the day of the flight.
• Claims shall be based on a rate of GHS 50 per kilogram or part thereof.
• Loss of a passenger’s bag shall be reimbursed using the difference between the weight checked in and the weight delivered. In the event that the weight cannot be confirmed, PassionAir shall reimburse the base rate of GHS50.
• PassionAir shall NOT reimburse the value or the content of the bag unless such content and value are declared before the acceptance of the bag.

PassionAir shall not be responsible for items of high value that are checked in, such items are to be carried onboard. If for any reason it is declared and accepted for carriage as checked-in baggage, the passenger will sign a limited liability form.

Lost & Found

Please note that it is your responsibility to take all your belongings when you leave the aircraft and to collect your luggage when it is delivered upon arrival. PassionAir shall not accept responsibility for any items left onboard. However, if you have left an item onboard:

• Please contact our airport representative at your arrival airport.
• Items found on board will be kept by our security department for a maximum of thirty (30) days; thereafter, the item shall be disposed of or donated to charity.
• Left behind or unclaimed perishable items shall be disposed of immediately after they are found.
